ProportionLand Online Interactive (Math & Science, Middle School)
Alabama Public Television’s ProportionLand invites middle school students to “reason” their way through the eight interactive Attractions in our amusement park. As students hop on and enjoy the rides, they must explore and apply proportional reasoning skills to solve a variety of science-based, real world problems. ProportionLand is based on the 5E Model of Instruction:
ENGAGE: It’s all about getting you excited and interested in the lesson and the learning that will follow.
EXPLORE: Here we allow you to interactively experience the concepts involved in each lesson.
EXPLAIN: This section explains the concepts involved in more detail. More formal definitions and explanations are offered here.
EXTEND: Step by step instructions and illustrations so you get a deeper understanding of the concepts.
EVALUATE: Like a test, only fun because you just learned all the skills needed to ace it!
